Chiropractic medicine

Your bones and muscles are kind of important.

is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system (muscles, bones and joints). Doctors of Chiropractic spend 3-4 years in University followed by an additional 4 years of chiropractic college. They provide a diagnosis, treatment and preventative care for many conditions and ailments related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints.

Our chiropractors are evidence-based practitioners, relying on the current research to guide their treatment plans. They use Active Release Therapy, acupuncture, Graston and manipulation as well as Activator, ultrasound, cold laser therapy, tens/IFC and custom orthotics when necessary.

Physiotherapy

Movement and function are key.

Physiotherapy is a rehabilitation profession that promotes a drug-free health care practice. PTs work with patients of all ages using exercise prescription, mobilizations, modalities and soft tissue therapy to restore function, decrease pain and improve movement and motion.

Our physiotherapist focuses on manual work - he spends time with the patient; working on the patient one-on-one and teaching the patient rehabilitative protocols to get them back in action.

Registered Massage Therapy

It's a"whole body" kind of thing.

is a comprehensive intervention that involves a variety of techniques to manipulate the soft tissues and associated structures of the body in order to prevent and relieve pain and restore function. Massage can help with muscle tightness resulting from stress, overuse injuries, chronic pain syndrome and acute muscle strains in a natural, non-invasive way.

Our RMTs focus on trigger points, tightness and the overall movement patterns of the body. With experience in pre and post-natal massage and rehabilitative injury care, they are available to treat a multitude of problems.

Naturopathic medicine

Natural ways to treat and prevent.

Naturopathic medicine is a non-invasive, holistic and natural way to treat and prevent chronic illnesses as well as reduce the reliance on prescription medications (and thus, their side effects). The focus is on the patient, lifestyle and diet choices, family history, and health history, to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan catered to the individual.

Our naturopath works with patients to treat (and prevent) a variety of issues, such as: fertility, stress management, immune system, menopause symptoms, weight loss, skin conditions etc. She also has a special interest in polycystic kidney disease and related issues. She combines natural therapies including nutrition, acupuncture & Chinese medicine, herbs & lifestyle counselling to help you achieve your health goals.

ACUPUNCTURE

Traditional Chinese Medicine-Based Acupuncture

Acupuncture is used as a method to prevent disease as it re-balances energy within the body. Modern research has shown that by stimulating acupuncture points along the meridian channels affect the central and peripheral nervous system causing physiological responses in the body. This increase of endorphins aids in pain management while the immune & endocrine system response combats disease.
Acupuncture can be relaxing, offer immediate improvement from a single treatment and dramatic results with on-going follow up treatments.

During your initial acupuncture treatment with our Acupuncturist, a thorough health history is taken addressing current and past health concerns.  In addition to acupuncture, your treatment may include:
cupping, Chinese herbal prescriptions, tu-ina massage, gua-sha, dietary and lifestyle recommendations.  A treatment plan follow up and recommendations may also be included.

Acupuncture For Pain Includes: TCM theory, contemporary sport medical protocol, trigger point acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping therapy, tui-na massage, myo-fascial release.  These often work as a compliment to other alternative health modalities such as: massage, chiropractic therapy, physiotherapy and osteopathy.

:::SKIN DEEP + BEYOND::: Cosmetic Acupuncture: Also known as facial rejuvenation, cosmetic or facial acupuncture – this specialty treatment is derived from ancient needling techniques to further enhance your skin’s appearance and slow down the effects of aging.

Combining the Mei Zen technique, micro-needling and her own Skin Deep + Beyond personalized method, Kriss has been helping client’s compliment their own beauty naturally using the benefits of acupuncture for over 9 years. See fine lines soften and skin tone firm by increasing the body’s own production of collagen and elastin.
Cosmetic acupuncture can also help minimize dark circles, puffy eyes and tighten loose skin.
The fine-needles create ‘micro-traumas’ in the dermis (superficial layer of skin) which increase the collagen that is produced in that area.  The cosmetic treatments also increase the qi (chee) and blood circulation in the face helping complexion and skin tone.

Treatments also include a health history intake ensuring each treatment is customized so that clients benefit from specifically chosen supportive acupuncture body points. These are based on each person’s individual diagnosis including Chinese tongue and pulse evaluation. This acupuncture treatment is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and is covered by most extended health care plans.
